My QR code does not work. What should I do?

If you cannot scan your QR code, there are several reasons for this:

1. Your phone is not compatible with eSIM / unlocked

Make sure that your phone is compatible with eSIM. Check our list of device supported with eSIM. If yes, you can move to step 2.
Make sure that your phone is unlocked. Only carrier-unlocked phones can work abroad.
If your phone is not compatible, don’t worry, we have a solution for you.

2. You are scanning the QR code not through Settings menu

You cannot scan the eSIM QR code by visiting directly to your phone’s camera.
You must go to Settings menu and follow the right process to scan an eSIM.
For more detail on installing and activating your eSIM, you should refer our full guide:

3. You are not connected to the Internet

It is impossible to install an eSIM without wireless internet connection.
Without WiFi, you cannot scan the QR code.
For the best prepation, you should install an eSIM at home one day before departure date when you can access to stable Internet connection.
Note: Do not activate data roaming too soon. Wait till you arrive at your destination to do it to save your eSIM plan’s validity.

4. Try manual setting

If you cannot scan your QR code, and do not know the reason behind this error. You had better try setting up your eSIM manually by entering the activation code attached with the eSIM profile.
At Gigago, we will send you the activation code in the email after you place an order successfully.
When installing the eSIM, choose the option “Enter Details Manually” and enter the code.

5. Your eSIM QR code was out of date or being scanned already

An eSIM QR code has validity. After that validity date, it cannot be scanned.
Besides, an eSIM QR code can only be scanned once. You cannot scan it multiple times. In such case, you may receive a messaging notifying that “Data plan cannot be added”.
It may be that you have set up your eSIM successfully without notice. To check it, go to your SIM Card Manager or Cellular settings to check if the eSIM is already in your phone.
If your eSIM has not been set up, contact us via chat or email.
