Why don’t I see 5G in the status bar on my iPhone?

If you don’t see 5G in the status bar of your iPhone, there will probably be some reasons:

  • Your iPhone does not support 5G network. Only iPhone 12 or later supports 5G network
  • Your eSIM does not support 5G network
  • The area you are visiting is not covered by 5G network.

So, check whether or not the requirements above are met. If your phone complies with all requirements but you are still unable to see the 5G indicator in your iPhone’s status bar, please take the following steps:
1. Check coverage: Make sure you’re in an area with 5G coverage.
2. Verify 5G activation: Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile > Preferred SIM > Cellular/Mobile Data Options. If “Voice & Data” has “5G On,” your device has 5G activated.
3. Restart network: If 5G is activated, turn on Airplane Mode, then turn it off to reconnect to a 5G network.
Note: 5G speeds may vary depending on location and network conditions.
